Well folks, it is sure nice to be back on the trails for another season. May 3 was our annual bumble to Jack’s Pizza in McAdam.
Thank you Wade for planning this for us.I had a great chuckle when Wade emailed JACK’S to give them a heads up about our plans to have lunch there.
“Good evening. This is the River Valley ATV Club. My name is WADE McLellan. We are planning a trip down on Saturday. Not sure how many, but can call You Saturday morning with a number. This will be our third year. Any questions, let me know.
Their response: “HI there, I think you have the wrong Jack’s Pizza. That is not our logo. We are located in Indianapolis (USA). Have a great get together.
We all had a laugh over that.
It was a beautiful sunny morning. We gathered at the trail on Hodgson Road. After chatting a bit, 43 bikes (almost 100 people) headed out on the managed trail to Jack’s Pizza with a mission in mind.
We stopped at Bentonville Park to stretch our legs and chat with those we have not seen since last season, and of course there are always new faces.
Continuing o , we stop again in Canterbury. We cannot bumble by without stopping to pick up snacks and chat some more.
To make this bumble even more interesting, we turn off on the Grant Settlement Road and then take a right turn onto Fawn Lake Road. It is a pretty drive through here.
We pass over Deer Lake Brook and onto Duck Lake Road. Turning right will take us into McAdam, but as some found out this was not happening today because the water over the road was too high for some to pass through. No problem.
We made our way back to the managed trail and continued onto McAdam. We are fortunate to be able to use the Village streets to get to Jack’s Pizza. Here we are welcomed with open arms. Let the orders begin.
So much laughter from not just us but the staff as well. They were quite officiant in getting orders out in a timely manner.
I believe some of the crew did some shopping in the other stores after they finished eating while waiting for the rest of us.
A good time in McAdam, but it’s time to return home. It has cooled down a bit with overcast skies. Will the rain hold out?
We travel back to Woodstock on the managed trails, stopping from time to time to stretch. I think I may have dozed off a few times after the big lunch I had.
We were almost home when the rain started. After 190km, we were back to where we started from . A good day was had by all. See you all soon on the trails. A big THANK YOU to DON for leading the group, Wade for organizing, and Brian for bringing up the rear. HAPPY TRAILS!!
