Trail Report: Brian McHatten, Trail Coordinator
Trail 500
Trail # 5001 – received permit for the culvert at Deerville; culvert has been ordered and once received; Sheldon will get it on his schedule. Nothing can be done until after the first of June due to DNR ruling.
Trail #23 – from Debec to upper side of Cosman Road – culverts have been cleaned and brush removed; 2.5km trail upgraded to DNR standards; ditching washouts have been dealt with; sections of trail still need more repaired; and finished replacing missing signs.
Centreville trail repairs are waiting on contractor availability. Brian will check in with contractor again to try to get this repair completed.
Update discussion on a previous budget approved of $3,000 for equipment and the GPS upgrade and pole saw is up for discussion. Brian reported that he checked with DNR and for what we are doing with our GPS is fine. In the event we want to do mapping with our 100km trail system, then the GPS would need to be upgraded.
Pole saw we have in inventory now, which has never been used. Discussion was had that the reason the existing pole saw has not been used is because it is not collapsible and cumbersome to carry. Decision was to hold for now.
